All the way from kindergarten to high school, maths is an important part of a child’s development and literacy. 

Children in the early years of primary school will be taught to use phonics to sound out words as they learn to read and encouraged to practise by reading a special type of book under a new literacy syllabus proposed by the NSW Education Standards Authority.
